Privacy

What I collect, what I do not, and how long I keep it. It is short because there is little to collect.

In short

No ads, no tracking, no analytics. Nothing measures the pages you visit, which is why there is no cookie banner either. Your email address is not stored here.

Account

You sign in with Google or Apple. From the identity they hand over I keep only your account id at that provider; the name and email are read once to build a first nickname, and the email is not saved. What I hold: your nickname, your address, your country if you picked one, your avatar, your bio if you wrote one, your points and your league.

Cookies and device

Three cookies: sf_session carries your sign-in (90 days), sf_auth lives for a few minutes during sign-in, sf_locale remembers the language. All three belong to this site, no ad network. Your board choice, your sound setting, the last coast you looked at and the coasts you turned alerts on for stay in your browser's own storage and never reach the server.

Logbook, photos, location

A session you write is public: hour, spot, the size you saw, stars, note, your nickname and your flag. A photo you upload is deleted after 90 days. If you allow location, your coordinates reach the server only in that request; I compute the distance to the beach and keep the kilometres, the coordinates are not saved.

Alerts

If you turn alerts on, the address your browser hands out, two encryption keys, the coast and the language are stored. They are deleted when you turn alerts off or when the subscription expires. The alert itself travels through your browser's push service: Google on Android, Apple on iPhone.

What leaves the site

The site sits behind Cloudflare, so Cloudflare sees your IP. Signing in takes you to Google or Apple. Flag images come from flagcdn.com. Fonts are served from my own server. No ad network, no tracking pixel, no analytics.

Deleting

You delete your account from the account menu: your sessions, photos, avatar, subscriptions and points all go. If you want a single session removed, write to me and I will remove it. The data sits on my own server, not in a rented database service.

Sources and licences

The coastline comes from OpenStreetMap contributors under ODbL. The depth profiles come from EMODnet Bathymetry under CC BY. The wave and wind data come from Open-Meteo under CC BY. Their licences ask me to say so, so here it is.
